A fresh look at Four Seasons Aviara
While it still has lovely amenities and great service, Four Seasons Aviara looks abit tired and dated, like an aging pop star, and in need of makeover. Wear-stained areas in carpeting outside elevators and in high traffic areas in the room I had left a negative impression. Scary bad sisal carpets are in the bathroom, which otherwise was spacious with 2 sinks and separate tub and walk-in shower with a very good Grohe showerhead. The bed and bedding was very cushy and comfy, definitely up to Four Seasons standards. I don’t think I’d feel safe putting real 5-star clients there.
However, the highly regarded steak house, Argyle, did live up to its reputation, with excellent food and a great wine list–the best lamb chops I’ve had since visiting the Lake District of England.
The hotel is in a very lovely setting and still has a lot going for it, especially for families who want a condo accommodations as they have plenty of those to let. Separate kid-friendly pool. They even have a surf concierge. I was, however, a bit put-off by the large timeshare sales office just off the main lobby area.
