Wisdom is communicated in many ways. And sometimes it’s found in brief quotes. We started to collect quotes we come across about travel, or the value of a travel experience, and post them on our website here.
If you have a favorite travel quote, we invite you to share it, and if we like it we’ll add it to our Travel Wisdom page. (Be sure to include who the author of the quote is.)

The entire coast of these Baltic countries is the land of amber, a fossilized resin. The greatest abundance and probably the best prices for amber can be had in Lithuania. In many shops you see various shades of brown and yellow jewelry, carvings, and other items like chess sets made of amber.
The food in these countries is similar and quite hearty- excellent dark breads, sausages, lots of potatoes, potato...keep reading

Telluride is in a class of its own. It does not have the “see and be seen” feel of Aspen. It is very laid back and people are super nice and helpful. You get the true American spirit. Family friendly beyond imagination.
With nonstop flights from LAX – 1 hrs 38 min to Montrose, Colorado – it is a dream of a destination. The Telluride airport is only 8-10minutes from the mountain village where Capella...keep reading

I used to think Manzanillo was the poor step sister to Puerto Vallarta and Zihuatanejo – that was before I visited. It is much smaller than the aforementioned resort towns, not having as many resorts and hotels. And much smaller beaches being made up of a lot of crescent bays. The two major hotels in Manzanillo are the Barcelo Karmina Palace, a nice 4-star property where we stayed. The other...keep reading

We arrived in Capetown, South Africa, via London after almost 24 hours of flight time, tired but well pampered by British Airways. We were greeted and transferred to the Hotel Mount Nelson by our friendly and efficient guide. All of our travel arrangements were handled flawlessly.
The iconic Hotel Mount Nelson is situated within a lush and sprawling garden estate close to the heart of the city. The hotel...keep reading

One of our favorite destinations in Southern Africa is Botswana. Because of the importance of the Okavanga Delta as a water source, Botswana offers a varied landscape and exceptional wildlife viewing experiences. You can reach Botswana via a two-hour flight from Johannesburg.
Among our favorites are the three intimate small Orient Express camps. Often we will plan a visit that spends time in each of the camps,...keep reading

The original resort in the Phoenix-Scottsdale area, which is now cluttered with them, this Frank Lloyd Wright design still is a special place and full of history. While it may not be the most luxurious resort in these parts, the architectural design, service and comforts offer a real “retreat,” a special sense you probably won’t find at any other resort here. And with former guests that...keep reading

The Four Seasons Resort Whistler is Canada’s only AAA Five-Diamond Resort. Located toward one end of Whistler’s Upper Village, it offers the most luxury of any resort in the area, and the most peaceful ambience. The resort is just across the street from Lost Lake Park (which offers many trails for walking or biking, as well as a lovely lake that’s swimmable). Staying at the Four Seasons...keep reading
